Warm Home Discount Scheme
The Warm Home Discount Scheme offers electricity customers a one-off payment of £150 who are potentially struggling to pay their energy bills during the cold winter months.
Where do you live?
The Warm Home Discount Scheme works differently depending on where you live in the country. Please select where you live below to find out more.
Scotland
If you live in Scotland, the Warm Home Discount Scheme works slightly differently, depending on the benefits you receive and your household income.
If you were receiving the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit on 24 August 2025, you automatically qualify for the Warm Home Discount – Core Group 1. You don’t need to apply.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will have written to you before the end of December 2025 to confirm your eligibility and let you know if you needed to do anything to receive your rebate.
If you receive other means-tested benefits or are on a low income but didn’t qualify under the Core Group 1 criteria, you needed to apply for the Warm Home Discount – Broader Group by 28 February 2026.
England and Wales
If you're eligible to receive the £150 payment, you don't need to apply
If EDF supplied your electricity on 24 August 2025 and you were receiving an eligible benefit, you should receive your Warm Home Discount rebate automatically.
Between October and December 2025, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) wrote to customers who qualified for the Warm Home Discount – Core Group 1 or Core Group 2. Your letter explained whether you needed to take any action to receive your rebate.
The Warm Home Discount helpline closed on 28 February 2026.
Please check back in September 2026 for updates about the Warm Home Discount scheme for Winter 2026/27.

Customers in Scotland who are not eligible for Core Group 1 must apply each year
