Generate electricity from a renewable or low-carbon source and you could get money from your energy supplier
We're currently experiencing delays receiving incoming emails. Please be assured we're working to get this issue resolved and will respond to emails as soon as possible.
Energy supplier no longer operating?
If your energy supplier is no longer operating and previously provided you with Feed-in payments you'll need to approach a new FiT Licensee (a new supplier) to continue to receive these FiT payments or you may choose to register with EDF.
If you'd like to change from your current Feed-in Tariff provider to EDF please complete our application form choosing ‘Change of FIT supplier’. Please use our form register for Feed-in Tariff. For other information head to our help and advice page.
If you've recently installed new technology that generates electricity from a renewable source
Please be aware that the Feed-in Tariff scheme closed on 31 March 2019 for all new applicants. You can read more about it here. However, you may be eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee incentive which rewards you for the energy you export. Please go to our Smart Export Guarantee page to find out more. If you're already a FIT customer, you won't be affected by the scheme closure.
What's it all about?
EDF Energy is a Mandatory FIT Licensee
The Feed-in Tariff scheme is now closed for all new applicants.
However, if you have moved into a property that has renewable technology and was previously accredited for the Feed-in Tariff scheme, please complete the application below choosing the option ‘Change of Ownership’.
If you would like to change from your current Feed-in Tariff provider to EDF please complete our application form choosing ‘Change of FIT supplier’. If you install new technology that generates electricity from a renewable source you are not eligible for the Feed-in Tariff scheme, but you may be eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee Government incentive which rewards you for the energy you export. Please go to our Smart Export Guarantee page to find out more.
Benefits of a Feed-in Tariff
- Generation tariff: Your energy supplier will pay you a set rate for each unit (or kWh) of electricity you generate. Once your system has been registered, the tariff levels are guaranteed for the period of the tariff (up to 20 years) and are index-linked.
- Export tariff: You will get a further amount from your FIT Licensee for the energy you export back to the electricity grid.
- Energy bill savings: You'll be making savings on your electricity bills because generating electricity to power your appliances means you don’t have to buy as much electricity from your energy supplier. The amount you save will vary depending on how much of the electricity you use on-site.
Deemed to metered
In the UK, the government plans to install smart meters in all homes across England, Scotland and Wales by 2020 and these will provide consumers with greater information on their use of energy
