Estimates based on a gas-heated detached home.
Figures are based on fuel prices as of April 2019.
Heathrow to Madrid, Spain is 1243 km one way.
BEIS - UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting 2020 - Air Travel with RF factor included states 0.378394 tonnes of CO2 per economy passenger for a return flight.
The carbon difference between a heat pump and boiler is calculated as:
A - 13,903 kWh of energy demand for heating and hot water
B - 3.48 heat pump designed efficiency
C - new boiler efficiency of 93%
D - Gas fuel emissions of 208 gCO2/kWh
E - Electricity fuel emissions of 277 gCO2/kWh
Gas CO2 = (A/C*D) = 3.11 tonnes
Electricity CO2 = (A/B*E) = 1.11 tonnes
1-(1.11)/(3.11) = 64%
Calculation is based on:
Based on a 13,903 kWh heat demand and an assumed maximum efficiency of 3.48 (SCOP) will be eligible for RHI subsidy of £7,574 (based on 10.92p/kWh)
Three and a half times more efficient is based on a heat pump efficiency of 3.48 vs a gas boiler of 93% or 0.93. 3.5 x 0.93 = 3.25, which is less than 3.48.
Annual savings based on 3 bedroom, semi-detached home, of approx. 125m² and Energy Savings Trusts average UK electricity tariff rates. Electricity kWh usage for Dimplex Quantum and equivalent manual static storage systems are derived from SAP 2012 calculations and an independent report commissioned by Dimplex in 2014
All Quantum products come with a standard 2 year parts and labour guarantee for repair or replacement of faulty goods. Your guarantee witl be extended to 10 years subject to the following additional condition: You must register your product with Dimplex within 28 days of date of purchase. Under this extended guarantee, up to 5 years after the date of purchase, the whole product is guaranteed. After the first 5 years have elapsed, the following components are excluded from the guarantee: heating elements, electronics, electromechanical devices and ancillary electrical components including fan and air-mixing device.

UK Fuel Mix disclosure information, published by Government Department BEIS, recognises electricity from wind, solar and nuclear fuel produces zero carbon dioxide emissions at the point of generation.
The zero-carbon electricity purchased is supplied into the National Grid. Customers receive electricity via the National Grid, not directly from zero-carbon generators.
The below table summarises zero-carbon generation by company demonstrating EDF generating 29.4%. The data supporting the table below and the % values is sourced from a mixture of industry settlement data and the UK government renewable obligation database.
|ZERO-CARBON GENERATION SUMMARY BY COMPANY||2019||2019|
|Supplier name||zero-carbon||GWh of zero-carbon electricity generation||% of overall zero-carbon electricity generation|
|Fred Olsen Renewables||zero-carbon||1,130||0.8%|
