EDF Energy South West Media Awards 2014 opens for entries

The EDF Energy South West Media Awards 2014 is open for entries today.

Celebrating the 10th annual event, the awards recognise the best journalism across Bath, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Held in association with HoldtheFrontPage, 20 categories cover newspapers, radio, television and online journalism.

Andrew Brown, Brand, Sustainability & External Communications Director at EDF Energy, said:

“We are delighted to launch the 10th annual EDF Energy South West Media Awards. Media across the South West have got right behind the awards since they began in 2005, and we’ve had well over 2000 entries in that time.

“They continue to recognise the breadth and strength of regional journalism across the region, and I’m sure this year will be no exception.”

The individual categories are newcomer, digital, specialist, weekly print, daily print, sport, radio and television journalist of the year, along with designer, photographer, feature writer and columnist.

Group categories recognise best front page, community campaign, website, radio and television news or current affairs programme, weekly free and paid for newspapers and daily newspaper of the year.

Paul Linford, Editor of Hold the Front Page, said: “We are proud to have been associated with these awards since 2005 and are grateful for the continued support and sponsorship of EDF Energy over that period.”

Free-to-enter, individual award winners receive a £100 cheque, certificate and trophy, and all those shortlisted will be invited to an awards ceremony in June.

Material published between March 4 2013 and March 18 2014 will be eligible.

The deadline for entries is 5pm, Friday 25 April 2014.
