Helping you during Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

At present, our position is that only essential work will be carried out due to ongoing efforts to minimise the risk of COVID-19. Our operations and resource are able to provide a service to critical metering, but we are pausing all non-critical metering visits. Our top priority is the health and well-being of our customers and our team.

We will therefore facilitate any new connection that is critical to the COVID-19 response, so please contact us if you believe this to be the case with your application.

Unfortunately this means that we may have to decline your application at this time due to the current risks around COVID-19. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, and would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to support our customers during this uncertain time.

We'll continue to monitor the situation and look at what additional actions we can take to enable us to restart non-critical activity as soon as we think it's safe to do so.

Please note that if you do not have the cabling in place to support your new meter then you should contact your local Distribution Network Operator.

As a guide whole current metering is generally installed on supplies that are 100 amp or smaller, typically 0-72 KVA.

Current Transformer (CT) metering is typically installed on supplies that are 200 amps or larger generally with 72KVA or more allocated. This size of supply will require Half Hourly CT metering and you will need to have set up a Half Hourly metering contract.

If you would like AMR or Half Hourly then you will need to have set up a metering contract in advance with your chosen metering team for this type of meter to be installed. EDF Energy's Meter Operator business can be contacted at: or by phone on 0208 2988005. Alternatively the a full list of providers is available from the Association of Meter Operators.
