What is V2G?

Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology allows electric vehicle (EV) batteries to store energy and discharge it back to the electric grid. when it’s most needed – for instance at peak times of the day when usage across the UK is at its highest. This two-way exchange of energy provides your business with a number of economic, environmental and operational benefits.

V2G - all the benefits of smart charging, plus

Revenue growth

Generate revenues that save on your running costs

V2G uniquely lowers the cost of running your business's Electric Vehicles by generating revenues through participation in local energy markets. Some of the energy stored in each connected EV battery is “sold back” to the market to help with fluctuating supply and demand.

The revenues made through EDF Energy's V2G service are shared with you, and can help reduce the annual cost of electric fuel (equivalent to an average 8,000 miles per year per V2G charger(1)), enough to run your vehicles for free.

Environmental sustainability

Show that your business is supporting environmental sustainability

V2G increases the positive impact EVs already have in reducing carbon emissions, by supporting the introduction of renewable energy sources to the electric grid. Electricity generated by intermittent sources such as solar and wind can be stored in EV batteries, and then discharged when energy demands are high or those sources aren’t available.

Smart charging solution

Retain all the benefits of intelligent charging

Our V2G solution includes all the elements you'd get from a fast charging solution. Each charger links to our intuitive web and phone application allowing fleet managers to remotely check the status of their connected electric vehicles and schedule any charging needs as they want.
