We want to make sure rural communities also benefit from the electrification of transport. So we’re delighted that our R&D UK Centre’s Rural Electric Mobility Enabler (REME) project has won funding from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) and Innovate UK to help do just that!
Connections, maintenance and environmental impact are all key issues to which R&D is fully committed. Marie Berthelot, Head of R&D Renewables and Offshore Wind R&D project leader at the R&D UK Centre, focusses on the area of maintenance. All these multi-disciplinary teams have very diverse but complementary areas of expertise to successfully achieve Net Zero.
Here at the R&D UK Centre we are proud of the CommUNITY+ project that is based in Brixton, London. Since February 2020 it has brought together empowered solar energy neighbourhoods. With no upfront cost, the participants reduced their energy bills by more than 20%.
In response to Innovate UK’s call for research and development projects to support rebuilding the UK’s economy after the effects of COVID-19, EDF is pleased to announce project INFINITE: Identifying & releasiNg Flexibility IN IndusTrial dEmand. The project, being a highly innovative effort to address the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the UK industrial sector, seamlessly aligns with EDF social and sustainability responsibilities to help Britain achieve Net Zero.
On 30th November 2020, we are celebrating the completion of an EDF led project Vehicle to Grid Oxford (V2GO). It was a success as we achieved the objectives, which was to build confidence and demonstrate the value of Vehicle to Grid (V2G) to fleet operators.
