Amazon Echo is a voice-controlled speaker designed entirely around voice – it's always ready, hands-free and fast. Alexa is the brain behind Echo – just ask Alexa to play music, read the news, set alarms, answer questions, check sports scores – even review your energy account. This can all be done from across a room, thanks to Echo's far-field voice control functionality.
Alexa skills are capabilities like app, enabling customers to interact with Echo devices in a more intuitive way using your voice. When you've got your Amazon Echo and have downloaded the Alexa app, it'll be time to activate our skill. Alexa will then answer questions about your energy account.
With your EDF Energy Alexa skill, you'll be able to ask Alexa to check your energy account balance and next payment date, submit a meter reading and when your tariff is due to end.
Your EDF Energy Alexa skill connects to your MyAccount to give you accurate answers. This should make it easier to stay on top of your energy usage – and understand it better.
To start with, you need to be an EDF Energy customer and signed up to MyAccount. Not yet a customer? No problem! It's really easy to get a quote and switch to us. You'll also need some other basics such as a smart phone and a wifi connection.
Once you’ve plugged in your Echo and completed the account linking process via the Alexa app, you can activate our skill!
