The colder a home gets, the more likely someone is to become ill. And after time, they could develop hypothermia.
The risk of illness increases if there’s a sudden drop in temperature in the middle of a mild winter. So it’s important a home is kept cosy.

Causes for concern:
• A home that feels cold or draughty
• Ice on the inside of windows
• If there’s damp or mould
• Homes which are off the mains gas network or in isolated locations
• Older homes that are poorly insulated
• If a portable heater is constantly moved from room to room
• Needing to wear coats indoors
• Frequent trips to the doctor with colds
• Shivering
• Difficulty walking without bumping into things
• If fuel bills become a worry
