£50 cashback to customers signing up to electric vehicle tariffs in November
EDF is offering £50 cashback to anyone who signs up for any of its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs during November, in a move to help drivers charge their EV for less.
The limited time offer of £50 will mean that two of EDF’s EV tariffs, GoElectric Overnight and Pod Point EV Exclusive, will become the cheapest options on the market[1].
The full range of EV tariffs (GoElectric Overnight, Pod Point EV Exclusive, EVolve and Pod Point Plug & Power) all come with five hours of cheaper electricity every night between 12am – 5am for both customers’ homes and cars, and are backed by 100% zero carbon electricity[2]. Unlike some other EV tariffs on the market, all of EDF’s EV tariffs are compatible with all vehicles, regardless of the make or model.
For an average motorist, charging with GoElectric Overnight will save drivers £828 a year compared to petrol. And compared with using the public charging network, EV drivers charging with the tariff would save £752[3].
"We are dedicated to helping customers reduce their energy costs while supporting the transition to electric vehicles and greener energy," said Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF.
"This deal means we’re offering two of the most affordable EV tariffs in the market by giving customers £50 back in their pocket. Plus, with all our tariffs offering competitive off-peak rates, we hope it will encourage more drivers to drive electric and save cash and carbon in the process."
EDF, Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity, has everything a driver will need to switch to electric motoring, through its partnerships with Drive Electric for electric vehicle leasing, and Pod Point, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions.
EDF’s EV tariffs are designed to suit different charging and home energy needs:
- GoElectric Overnight
One of the lowest priced EV tariffs with 5 hours of off-peak electricity at just 8.99p per kWh. Compatible with any make of charger.
- Pod Point EV Exclusive
Off-peak rates of just 8.49p per kWh, available for new Pod Point customers.
- EVolve
Motorists can save £200 a year, and never pay more than the Ofgem price cap[4]. Variable tariff offering the same electricity day rate as standard variable and an off-peak rate priced 10p lower than the Standard Variable Direct Debit price cap rate[5]. Compatible with any make of charger.
- Pod Point Plug & Power
Offers drivers the ability to purchase a Pod Point Solo 3S charger for an initial payment of £499[6] (compared to £1,099) and the remaining cost for the charger is spread over two years and integrated into the tariff, giving drivers a more cost-effective way to get a convenient and reliable home charger and run their EV.
To be eligible for the £50 credit, new or existing customers will need to sign up for any EV tariff throughout November, and the credit will be applied to their account within 30 days of signing up[7].
Customers are required to have a smart meter and be opted into half-hourly meter readings to sign up for any of EDF's EV tariffs.
