Making sure customers are treated fairly. Always.
More than two thirds of businesses value the help they get from their energy broker or consultant, according to a 2013 survey for Ofgem. We value energy brokers, too – especially those which can demonstrate they treat their clients fairly.
We have agreements in place with hundreds of energy brokers, consultants and other third-party intermediaries. These brokers can source quotes from EDF Energy for their clients because they’ve promised (amongst other things):
- not to mis-sell themselves or misrepresent us
- to allow their customers to see the fees they charge.
We only make these agreements with energy brokers who pass our vetting process.
While we don’t believe it’s our place to police their activities, we do hold our counterparts to a high standard. That’s why we joined the Utilities Intermediaries Association (UIA), a trade body for energy brokers. The UIA wants businesses to be able to use energy brokers with confidence, and we think that’s worth supporting.
We’re also contributing to Ofgem’s work on a Code of Practice for third-party intermediaries.
