EDF to give two extra off-peak hours on all EV tariffs from April

Posted March 27, 2026
  • EDF is extending its off-peak charging window on all its EV tariffs by two hours from 11pm – 6am every night (previously 12am – 5am)
  • New and existing customers on EDF’s GoElectric and Pod Point Plug & Power tariffs qualify for the increased off-peak hours for their car and home
  • This update makes EDF the supplier with the longest off-peak charging window on the market.

From 1st April, EDF customers will benefits from enhanced electric vehicle (EV) tariffs, gaining two extra hours of off-peak charging every night giving customers more incentive to make the switch.1

New and existing customers will now be able to charge off-peak between 11pm to 6am2, providing two extra hours of low-cost electricity for both their car and home. This extended seven-hour window, makes EDF the supplier with the longest off-peak charging window currently on the market.

With seven hours of off‑peak charging, drivers can typically add around 140–210 miles of range overnight; the equivalent to 12 days of commuting3. This means with the additional two hours from EDF, households can charge their EVs while they sleep, ensuring their car is ready for the morning commute and providing all the power they need for the day ahead.

The EV tariffs GoElectric, Pod Point Plug & Power and Pod Point EV Exclusive are eligible for the increased off-peak hours, and all tariffs are backed by 100% zero carbon electricity. Unlike some other EV tariffs on the market, EDF’s EV tariffs are compatible with all vehicles, regardless of the make or model.

Households can power their cars with seven hours of off-peak charging

Joe Souto, Director of Retail at EDF, said: “We are pleased to offer extended off-peak hours across all our EV tariffs, making it simpler and more affordable to power their car and home every night. With seven hours of overnight charging, households can help reduce the strain on the grid by using electricity when it’s less in demand, and wake up with a car fully charged easing the pressure of the morning routine.

“By choosing an EDF EV tariff and flexing their energy use, customers can reduce their carbon footprint, take advantage of cleaner electricity, and play an active part in Britain’s transition to a more electric, sustainable future – all while saving money.”

EDF has multiple EV tariff options available

EDF’s EV tariffs are designed to suit different charging and home energy needs:

  • GoElectric – Our most popular EV tariff which can be combined with our Smart Charging bolt-on.
  • Pod Point EV Exclusive – Available for new and existing customers with a Pod Point Solo 3S home charger.
  • Pod Point Plug & Power – Offers drivers the ability to purchase a Pod Point Solo 3S charger for an initial payment of £499 (compared to £999)4 and the remaining cost for the charger is spread over two years and integrated into the tariff. Gives drivers a more cost-effective and convenient way to get a reliable home charger and run their EV.

Additionally, with the Smart Charging bolt-on, by simply plugging in and letting EDF automatically manage charging when electricity is cheapest and less in demand, customers are rewarded with more off-peak hours and £5 off their bill each month, saving them both cash and carbon.
