EDF spreads the love with free electricity on Valentine's Day
EDF is sharing the love as it offers four hours of free electricity to customers on Valentine’s Day evening, as part of its popular Sunday Saver scheme.
On 14th February between 7pm and 11pm, EDF customers will receive free electricity allowing them to create memorable moments with their loved ones, whether it’s a romantic dinner or a cosy movie night.
To take advantage of this offer, customers must register their interest in EDF’s next Sunday Saver challenge by 13th February. If customers have already registered their interest in the next Sunday Saver event, they will automatically receive the free hours.
Sunday Saver gives customers the opportunity to earn free electricity on Sundays by shifting their electricity use away from weekday peak hours (4pm – 7pm), saving them cash on their bills. Customers can earn between 4 and 16 hours depending on how much they shift by.
This announcement follows EDF giving away eight hours of free electricity on Christmas Day to those who signed up to its December Sunday Saver challenge. EDF gave a total of £200,000 to customers for their Christmas Day electricity, on top of the free electricity it gave away on Sundays to those who reduced their usage during the week. Sunday Savers earned an average of 26 hours of free electricity across December, with the top 20% of participants earning 50 free hours.
"We are thrilled to offer this special Valentine’s Day gift to our customers," said Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF. “Our free electricity offer over Christmas was a great success, so we’re pleased to be able to offer another free electricity day to our customers to help them save energy on their bills whilst celebrating time with their loved ones.
“Our next Sunday Saver event will be better than ever, and we hope more customers will join and benefit from up to 16 hours of free electricity each week if they can reduce their usage during weekday peak hours.”
For more information about free electricity on Valentine’s Day and to register interest for the next Sunday Saver challenge, please visit EDF's free electricity page, and customers will be notified when it’s time to sign up. The hours of free electricity on Valentine’s Day will be credited to customers’ accounts around two weeks after the event.
To take part, households must have a working smart meter for their electricity supply and be opted into half-hourly meter readsi.
