EDF tariff is cheapest of large suppliers
EDF has released a new fixed price tariff which is the [i]cheapest of the large suppliers and is priced at the current energy price cap.
EDF Essentials 1Yr Aug25 tariff is priced at an average of £1,567 for a 1-year fix and is available to new and existing customers. With EDF’s Price Cap forecasting Service predicting rises over the coming months, it is predicted to stay competitive.
The cap forecasting service, which provides weekly cap predictions, believes prices could rise to an average of £1,714 from October 1st, potentially increasing further to £1,733 on January 1st 2025.
“At EDF we are always looking to keep our prices as cheap as possible to help our customers save cash and carbon,” said Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF. “Current falling wholesale market prices mean we can lower our prices for a limited period of time and offer customers a deal which matches the current cap, which has dropped to its lowest level since Winter 2021. However, our Price Cap forecasting service predicts rises in the coming months, making this a great time to lock in.”
Customers who sign up to the new tariff require a smart meter or need to agree to have one installed. A smart meter provides a range of benefits, such as EDF’s exclusive Energy Hub platform, accessible via MyAccount or via the EDF app, where they can access a personalised view of their energy usage. EDF has found that customers who are using Energy Hub to understand their usage are able to actively reduce their bills by up to £41[ii] a year as well as helping to cut their carbon footprint.
Getting a smart meter installed is simple, with no upfront extra cost for the meter or for the in-home display it comes with.
