Beat the Cap: EDF cuts standing charges by £100

Posted February 24, 2026
  • EDF Simply Tracker Extra Jun27 will give customers a £100 dual fuel saving against Ofgem’s price cap.
  • Based on the predicted April price cap level, the new tariff offers an annual average bill of £1,540 for dual fuel customers who pay by direct debit.
  • With the £100 discount applied through standing charges, EDF ensures all customers receive the same financial benefit.

EDF has increased the discount of its tracker tariff, Simply Tracker Extra Jun27, reducing annual standing charges by £100.

The fixed-term tracker tariff tracks Standard Variable prices and will undercut Ofgem’s price cap by £100. Unlike other tracker tariffs, EDF’s Simply Tracker Extra Jun27 guarantees savings of £50 per fuel on standing charges, against the price cap.

Standing charges are fixed daily charges which cover the cost of supplying electricity and gas to homes. EDF is predicting that standing charges will decrease by £13.30 a year when Ofgem announces its latest price cap level on Wednesday 25th February.

By discounting standing charges instead of unit rates, all EDF customers who sign-up to EDF’s Simply Tracker Extra Jun27 tariff will benefit from the same financial saving, even if they are low energy consumers.

EDF’s prediction for 1st April price cap

Based on EDF’s predicted 1st April price cap level of £1,640, the new tariff offers an annual average bill cost of £1,540 for a dual fuel customer paying via direct debit.

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director of Customers at EDF, said: “It is welcome news that Government support means that the price cap is decreasing, but we wanted to see how we could go further in reducing costs for EDF customers. There are still 57% of customers on standard variable prices – by opting for a fixed or tracker tariff customers can start saving today. This tracker tariff guarantees customers will always save £100 against the price cap, regardless of the changes to the energy price cap over the next year.

“Plus, by applying the discount through standing charges, we ensure that customers who are already working to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint still benefit from equal cost savings.”

Available to new and existing customers

To sign up to EDF Simply Tracker Extra Jun27, existing customers can do so via MyAccount online or via the EDF app, or new customers can sign up on the website. The tariff is available to new and existing customers on Direct Debit, Cash Cheque and Pay As You Go for a limited time only.

For an extra £50 off your energy bill, EDF customers and their friends can also sign up to ‘Refer a Friend’ via MyAccount online.
