EDF launches cheapest fixed tariff ahead of energy price cap increase
Ahead of the energy price cap rising to £1,849 on 1st April 2025, EDF has once again launched the cheapest, energy-only fixed tariff among major suppliers.
The Simply Fixed Jun26v5 16-month tariff costs £1,642 for a typical energy user paying by direct debit, marking a £96 saving below the current price cap level and a £207 saving against the new price cap level from 1st April 2025. There is no smart meter requirement to sign up, and if customers sign-up directly through EDF there are no exit fees for Simply Fixed Direct Jun26v5.
EDF currently predicts prices will continue to track above the current price cap level of £1,738 for the rest of the year and is helping new and existing customers save money by launching its new cheapest-in-market fixed rate deal.
The deal could be removed at any time due to volatility in global wholesale prices.

Over 175,000 of customers on our tracker tariffs have already saved £3.5m by switching. With our new market-leading deal, we’re offering customers the cheapest rates among major suppliers as well as ensuring price stability, giving households peace of mind over their energy costs.”
For customers that don’t wish to fix, EDF is also offering a 16-month tracker tariff, Simply Tracker Jun26. The tariff tracks at £50 below the price cap, with that £25 per fuel saving coming from standing charges rather than unit prices, to ensure those who sign up will see the same financial benefit even if they are low energy consumers.
For EDF customers that refer a friend, the energy supplier is giving both customers £50 off their energy bill. T&Cs apply.
