How does the Heat Pump & Power Tracker work?

With our Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff, you can enjoy six hours of low-cost electricity daily to heat your home without any price peaks that other suppliers apply. The more you adjust your heat pump and other electricity use during these times, the more you'll save on your bills!

Graph to show the daily discount periods of the Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff, which is between 4am-7am and 1pm-4pm

The tariff consists of three pricing rates every day, which are:

  1. A day unit rate based on the Standard tariff rate in your region
  2. Heat Pump & Power Tracker rate between 4 am–7 am and 1 pm4 pm. During these hours, you get a discount of 10p/kWh off the Standard tariff rate in your region
  3. A daily standing rate aligned with the Standard tariff rate in your region. There is no discount on this rate

Our Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff offers a flexible pricing model that adjusts to Ofgem's Price Cap, which is influenced by the wholesale energy costs. This means the unit rates are reviewed every three months and can change, but your 10p discount remains the same.

Don't worry about December 2025; you don't need to take any action. Your bill will be £0 for the entire month, no matter how much electricity you use.

There are no exit fees or tie-ins, so if our Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff doesn't work for you, you can switch to another supplier or tariff anytime.

Find your rates

If you're on our Standard tariff, take 10p off from your Direct Debit electricity unit rate to find the discounted rate. If you're on a fixed tariff, you won't be charged early exit fees, so you won't miss out.

If you don't have your unit rates readily available, select your region from the drop-down list to view our current Standard tariff electricity rates (including your day rate, your tracker rate, and daily standing charge). All rates prices include VAT charged at 5% and are rounded.

FAQs about the Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff

Don't worry, the Heat Pump Tracker Tariff is another great option for you. It works like the Heat Pump & Power tariff, providing discounts twice daily.

  • A typical customer can save £164 per year versus the current single-rate price cap tariff. This is based on the following; Savings are based on a customer using Ofgem’s typical domestic consumption of 2700 kWh electricity and with heating provided by an ASHP with COP of 3.1 providing equivalent heat to that from a 94% gas boiler using 11,500 kWh of gas.
  • We're giving customers who install an Ideal heat pump free electricity for the whole of December 2025 saving you approximately £200 (usage and savings may vary). This saving is based on a heat pump usage of 541 kWh, 23% off-peak consumption, 2,700 kWh Ofgem average annual electricity usage, average December usage 10.1% and based on Standard Variable tariff rates that apply from 1 October 2024 to 31 December 2024.
  • Ideal Heating is offering seven years of free service, maintenance and warranty, which is worth £1,150. This is made up of the market value of 4 services (4 x £225 = £900) plus the market value of the extended warranty (£250).

Our unique pricing plans rely on smart meter technology, which enables us to get the required data to determine your cost savings. To achieve this, we'll provide you with a smart meter that sends us meter readings every 30 minutes automatically.

If you're not an EDF customer yet, get a quote and join us through our sign-up page. Once you've switched to us and have a smart meter that provides us with reads every 30 minutes, you can come back here and fill out our form to apply for the Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff.

No, this tariff is just electricity, as it's linked to your air source heat pump.

Yes, this tariff is flexible. The price can change in line with Ofgem's Price Cap, which is affected by wholesale energy costs.

There are no exit fees or tie-ins, so if our Heat Pump & Power Tracker tariff doesn't work for you, you can switch to another supplier or tariff anytime – just let us know why.

Remember: even if you pay by Direct Debit, it doesn't mean the amount you pay each month is fixed. If you increase your energy usage, your Direct Debit will increase.

We understand this is frustrating, but unfortunately we don't own the in-home display (IHD) tech, so we can't control how the rates are displayed.

Since you're on a half-hourly rate tariff, it operates differently from a two-rate tariff. In a two-rate setup, the times are preset in the meter and the IHD updates immediately. However, with a half-hourly tariff, the meter checks every half hour whether it's peak or off-peak before sending that information to the IHD. This can cause a delay of up to an hour, which means the prices you see may not be accurate.

After signing up for this tariff, your savings will be automatic. Boost your heat pump during the cheap rate times to save even more!

  • Set up a heating schedule in line with the daily cheaper rates
  • Turn on your water heater during the hours to take advantage of the cheaper electricity rates
  • Boost your heating. Set your thermostat at a higher rate during the cheaper rate times. This means your heat pump will work less during other times

We're offering this package with Ideal Heating as they're providing the 7-year service and maintenance plan as well as a 7-year warranty, worth £1,150!(3)

Don't worry, your heat pump doesn't need to be installed before the offer ends. As long as you've paid your deposit by 28 February 2025 and your installation takes place before 30 September 2025, you'll be eligible for the offer.

To find out more out more about heat pump installations, visit our installation guide.

If you cancel your heat pump installation after EDF Heat Pumps has completed a home site survey and a heat loss survey, you'll receive a refund minus £500 for the work that's been carried out.

If you cancel after EDF Heat Pumps has completed a full design, you'll lose your full deposit.

If we determine the installation as unfeasible and not the right option for your home, don't worry, you'll receive a full refund.

All units calculated for December 2025 will be calculated at a zero unit rate and zero standing charge. Your electricity bill will show as £0 for the whole month of December 2025.

No, you'll get the whole month of December 2025 completely free!

As long as you install an Ideal heat pump by 30 September 2025 and pay your deposit by 28 February 2025, you'll get the 7-year service and maintenance plan. You don't have to join our tariff but if you do, you can save an extra £364!
