You don't need to have a smart meter to sign up to our single-rate GoElectric EV tariff. You do need to have a smart meter to sign up to one of our EV tariffs with off-peak rates: GoElectric 35 and GoElectric 98.

Your smart meter tells how much electricity you're using during peak and off-peak hours, which is how we work out what your bill should be.

Don't worry, we'll check which meter you have when you get a quote.

If you don't have a compatible smart meter that we can connect to, we'll sign you up to our GoElectric single-rate tariff. Once you have a smart meter you can switch to a GoElectric tariff with off-peak rates: GoElectric 35 and GoElectric 98.

It takes 2 to 4 weeks to get a smart meter once you've signed up to one of our GoElectric tariffs. Occasionally this may take a little longer, depending on where you live.

The GoElectric tariff has three structures which are;

Once you've signed up to our GoElectric tariff, you lock in your prices across all three structures that are in effect on the day you sign up. This means that even if we launch new versions of this tariff with different prices you're still able to access the prices that you were shown when you got a quote from us.

You can move freely between the tariff structures, during your GoElectric tariff deal date without incurring any additional fees. This will help you find out the best one that works for you.

Once you’ve signed up to GoElectric, you lock in the prices across all 3 structures that are in effect on the day you sign up. This means that even if newer versions of GoElectric are launched which have different prices, this will not affect you. You can move between the structures freely for the duration of your tariff whilst keeping the same end date, and you won’t incur any fees.

You’ll need to be an existing EDF customer with a compatible smart meter. If you’re new to EDF and already have a smart meter, we will let you know once your meter has connected to our systems. If you haven’t got a smart meter we will invite you to book a smart meter appointment.

Once you’re ready to change structures, simply follow these steps:

1. Go to www.edfenergy.com/electric-cars/go-electric-quote/podpoint and click the ‘Yes’ button when asked ‘Are you on an electric vehicle tariff with us already’. You will then see the option for changing the structure.
2. View the structures available, choose which one is best for you and submit your request to change the structure. We’ll then update your meter remotely to the new structure.

Once you have a compatible smart meter you will be able to view quotes for both GoElectric 35 and 98 using our quoting tool at www.edfenergy.com/electric-cars/go-electric-quote/podpoint.

Charging costs depend on the type of electric car you have and the energy tariff you're on.

For example, it could cost you as little as £1.58 to fully charge your electric car during off-peak hours if:

• you're on our GoElectric 35 tariff with cheaper overnight electricity between 12am and 5am (GMT) daily
• you have a Nissan Leaf with a 40kW battery
• That's less than £5 to charge your EV overnight.

Yes, our GoElectric EV tariffs are dual fuel only, which means they’ll cover both your gas and electricity (except where there is no mains gas supply).
