Utilita agrees sale of more than 40,000 credit customers to EDF
Strategic move accelerates Utilita’s ambition to grow and further develop its market-leading Smart Pay As You Go Energy operation
Utilita Energy has reached an agreement under which EDF, Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity, will acquire more than 40,000 of its credit customers. The transfer will take effect from 8 November 2025.
Customers included in the transfer will benefit from EDF’s experience in supporting credit accounts, access to a wider range of tariffs, and competitive pricing. For Utilita, the agreement supports its ambition to accelerate the growth and further development of its market-leading Smart Pay As You Go Energy operations.
Customers moving to EDF will receive direct communication in the coming days with full details on the next steps to ensure a smooth transition. There will be no interruption to energy supply, and prices will remain unchanged during the current price cap period. All accounts and credit balances will remain fully protected.
