Tariff update

Some of our tariffs aren’t available right now due to global energy prices changing quickly. During this time, we’re only able to offer a limited selection of tariffs, but we’ll update our range as soon as we can.

EDF EVolve FAQs

Yes. This plan is exclusively available to drivers of an electric vehicle, which they charge at home. View our full tariff eligibility criteria

Yes. The Evolve day rate is the same as the Standard Variable single rate, and the overnight rate is 10p (including VAT) cheaper. So provided you use electricity overnight (between midnight and 5am), you’ll be better off than being on our Standard Variable single-rate. The amount you save will depend on how much you consume in the overnight period. For example, if you charge 2000 kWh (equivalent to 7,000 miles of driving), you’ll save at least £200.

No. EDF Evolve is electricity only. You just need an active EDF electricity account with a fully connected(5) smart meter.

No. You must have a fully connected smart meter(5) and opt in to half-hourly meter readings. The smart meter tells us how much electricity you’re using during peak and off-peak hours, which is then used to work out your bill.

Don't worry, we'll check which meter you have when you get a quote and let you know your next steps.

If you don't have a compatible smart meter we can connect to, unfortunately you won’t be able to get EDF Evolve. We’ll do our best to install a smart meter in your area and communicate with it, however sometimes, for reasons beyond our control, we're unable to do this.

You can either stay on our Standard Variable plan or change your EDF tariff. If you choose to leave us, don’t worry - we won’t charge you an exit fee.

It takes two to four weeks to get a smart meter, once you've joined EDF. Occasionally this may take a little longer, depending on where you live.

If you're an existing EDF customer you can book a smart meter appointment through MyAccount

  1. Sign up
  2. In the sign-up journey you'll be presented with EV tariff options, including EDF Evolve; click on this
  3. Once your supply's live, you'll be transferred on to EDF's Standard Variable tariff
  4. Once we've connected to your smart meter and supply, you'll be automatically transferred on to EDF Evolve

No smart meter? No problem!

Once your electricity supply is with us, you can book an appointment(6) through MyAccount. Once your smart meter's installed and connected, you’ll be ready to access EDF Evolve.
