Celebrating Early Careers Development in the EDF UK R&D Centre!

By EDF | Posted October 06, 2021

Did you know that nearly a quarter of employees within the R&D UK Centre have come through the early careers pipelines and development schemes?

Whether it’s internships, industrial placements, or the R&D Development Scheme, the team is proud of the success of these early careers channels over the last few years. There’s also been several alumni who have taken their experience from working in the team and gone onto their next challenge within the company or the wider EDF Group.

We support all areas of EDF UK and Group with valuable innovative projects. Providing placement opportunities to talented individuals with lots of potential brings fresh perspectives to the team and helps them to keep their fingers firmly on the pulse.

Success stories

Patrick Dupeyrat, R&D UK Centre Director, said “we will continue to invest in these schemes that have proved to be of great benefit to individuals’ development as well as our business.”

Jacob Burrows, a research engineer, explained “the scheme was the perfect stepping stone for me from university into the world of work.”

Louise Yeow recently joined the team permanently having previously being an industrial placement student as part of her degree. Louise said, “During my placement I was always given the opportunity to work autonomously. The Renewables team put a lot of trust in me.’

The team continues to offer a range of placement opportunities whilst also partnering with universities across the UK, sponsoring postgraduate research projects on everything from nuclear energy to electric vehicles, in order to help Britain, achieve Net Zero.
