Generating energy

We build and run wind farms across the UK, and we run a large fleet of low carbon nuclear power stations and a smaller fleet of coal and gas stations. View our energy mix

We are building a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point and are planning a second at Sizewell.

Find out which reactors at our eight nuclear power stations are in service and what they are generating (updated on weekdays).

Renewable energy

EDF Renewables is a joint venture between EDF Renewables Group (EDF’s global renewable business) and EDF.

We’re one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies, owning 35 wind farms – including two offshore wind farms – and one of the largest operational battery storage units in Europe.

Nuclear New Build

We strongly believe that nuclear has a key role to play in providing reliable, low carbon and affordable energy to the UK, helping to meet future demand. That's why we are investing in Nuclear New Build projects.

Visit a power station

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic all station tours have been suspended for the rest of 2020. Our Exhibition Centres are either closed during this time or have limited opening arrangements, with a requirement to book. Further information can be found for each location on the 'plan your visit' section by clicking the tab below.

Nuclear power

Nuclear energy is low-carbon, reliable and works whatever the weather. Around 20% of the UK's electricity is generated by our eight nuclear power stations.

Our fuel mix

Every year we must publish details of the fuel sources that have been used to generate the electricity we supply to our customers. The information in the table below covers our supply licence for EDF Energy Customers Ltd for the period from April 2019 to March 2020.

Our customers' electricity is sourced from our own UK power stations, the wholesale energy market and other independent power generators. We are a major supporter of independent renewable generators.
