Young HPC

Parents and guardians

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is one of the most exciting construction projects in Europe right now and it has so much to offer young people. Whether you want to help your teen decide on their future career path, or learn about their future workplace, here’s everything you need to know about how we’ll look after your child at HPC – and give them the best start possible to their career.

What does HPC have to offer?

A rewarding long-term career

A first job at HPC is a first step towards a long and rewarding career. Our apprenticeships and trainee schemes open the door to learning a valued skill for life. Many come with a significant pay and benefits package. And some in-demand roles could give your child a varied career path that takes them all over the world.

Helping Britain achieve Net Zero

At Hinkley Point C we’re not just building a power station; we’re making a vital contribution to securing the UK’s energy future and helping the nation achieve Net Zero by 2050. We’re proud of the opportunities and benefits the project will bring to the local community, the region and the nation. And if your son or daughter works here, they’ll play a valuable role in helping us achieve our goals.

Health and wellbeing

Apprentice wellbeing programme

For many apprentices, getting a job at HPC means moving away from home for the first time. This is a big step – and while it’s hugely exciting for many, it can be overwhelming for some. Our Apprentice Wellbeing Programme is here to offer emotional support and advice on issues like money management and keeping healthy to young people working on the project.

Zero harm

Our people’s safety is our top priority. This ambition means making sure our workplaces are safe and healthy for everyone. We take a rigorous approach to risk and are industry-leading with our safety performance record.

Equity, diversity and inclusion

We’re about the people who work with us – celebrating their diversities and capturing the value that their differences bring. Our attitude towards diversity is reinforced by our various employee networks – such as our LGBTQ+ Supporters Network, Carers and Accessibility Network, and RACE Network. These create a real sense of community amongst our workforce.

Living in Somerset

Whether your son or daughter is living in one of our bespoke campuses on site or in rented accommodation nearby, find out everything there is to know about staying at HPC. And did we mention that the project is based in rural Somerset, with the picturesque city of Bath, beautiful Exmoor National Park and stunning beaches of Devon on our doorstep?

Our values

HPC is more than just a workplace. We’re proud to work here and we have our own project values that everyone on site is expected to respect and follow:

  • Humility: Recognising there is always opportunity to learn from others and improve
  • Positivity: Being an ‘energiser’ and focusing on solutions when faced with challenges
  • Respect: Valuing people, safety, the environment, and the rules under which we operate
  • Clarity: Knowing how far we’ve come, how far we’ve got to go and how we’re going to get there
  • Solidarity: Being one team, working closely together and helping each other
