Worker accommodation

Workers coming to Hinkley Point C can choose to stay in one of our bespoke campuses, which offer a wide range of facilities.

The 500-bed onsite campus and 1,000-bed facility in Bridgwater offer ensuite rooms and free Wi-Fi, onsite gym and sports pitches, as well as restaurant and café facilities. Each campus also provides lounge areas, which include Sky Sports and BT Sport, for after-work relaxation and socialising.

Rooms start at £25 per night and can be booked for both short- and long-term periods through the HOST Somerset website.

Rent out your room or property

We recognise that our workforce will have diverse housing needs. While those who will work on the project for a significant period of time might want permanent housing for themselves and their families, others will be at Hinkley Point C for shorter periods and will seek more temporary options. That’s why we have joined forces with Sedgemoor District Council, West Somerset Council, North Somerset Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council to provide a website that makes it easy to register and rent rooms and properties to our workforce. It’s also a great tool if you are looking for rental accommodation in the local area.

To register your room or property or search for the perfect local rental accommodation, visit somersethomelet.co.uk.

Our dedicated Accommodation Office is on hand if you would like advice or guidance. Email us at hinkley-accommodation@edf-energy.com or telephone 0800 096 7360.

Travel and commuting

There is very little car parking available at the Hinkley Point C site, so almost all workers leave their vehicles at Park and Ride sites and travel to the site by bus. A Park and Ride is operating at Junction 24 of the M5 and our bus services stop there as well as elsewhere in the local area to pick up workers and take them to the site.

We are building three other park and ride facilities: one at Junction 23 of the M5, one to the south of Cannington to collect workers travelling from the west of Bridgwater and from nearby rural areas, and one to the west of Williton to collect workers travelling from the south and west of the Hinkley Point C construction site.

The local area

Hinkley Point C is in rural Somerset, 9 miles from the lively town of Bridgwater (population c38,000) and within easy access of the hamlets of Wick, Burton, Shurton and Stolford. The next nearest village is Stogursey some 2 miles from the site as the crow flies and Combwich is around 4 miles away. Other local villages near the construction site include the popular Cannington and the picturesque Nether Stowey. We are 9 miles from Williton and 20 miles from the County town of Taunton.

Further afield, Somerset is home to a wide variety of landscapes, architecture and culture, including the City of Bath in the east, Exmoor National Park in the west, the historic town of Crewkerne in the south, Portishead, the northern most point on our coast and much more between.
