Travel and commuting

There is very little car parking available at the Hinkley Point C site, so almost all workers travel to the site by bus. A number of park and ride sites are now in operation, one at Junction 23 of the M5, one to the south of Cannington to collect workers travelling from the west of Bridgwater and from nearby rural areas, and one to the west of Williton to collect workers travelling from the south and west of the Hinkley Point C construction site.

The dedicated Hinkley Point C bus service also runs a number of routes in the local area, servicing local villages and towns, to pick up workers and take them to the site.

The local area

Hinkley Point C is in rural Somerset, 9 miles from the lively town of Bridgwater (population c38,000) and within easy access of the hamlets of Wick, Burton, Shurton and Stolford. The next nearest village is Stogursey some 2 miles from the site as the crow flies and Combwich is around 4 miles away. Other local villages near the construction site include the popular Cannington and the picturesque Nether Stowey. We are 9 miles from Williton and 20 miles from the County town of Taunton.

Further afield, Somerset is home to a wide variety of landscapes, architecture and culture, including the City of Bath in the east, Exmoor National Park in the west, the historic town of Crewkerne in the south, Portishead, the northern most point on our coast and much more between.
