Who gets the Warm Home Discount scheme in Scotland – and do I need to apply?

In Scotland, you may receive the £150 Warm Home Discount automatically through the Core Group or by applying to EDF through the Scotland Broader Group

Core Group Scotland

For 2026/27, Core Group eligibility has expanded in Scotland.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) identifies eligible households and matches them to the electricity supplier that supplied them on the qualifying date of 23 August 2026.

If you're eligible through the Core Group, you do not need to apply.

HM Government will write to eligible customers between October and December 2026 to confirm whether they are eligible and whether they need to take any action. The letter comes directly from HM Government and EDF does not receive a copy.

Broader Group Scotland

If you do not receive the Warm Home Discount automatically through the Core Group, you may be able to apply for the Scotland Broader Group.

To qualify, you must:

  • live in Scotland;
  • have your electricity supplied by EDF;
  • meet our Scotland Broader Group eligibility criteria; and
  • complete any required verification checks.
Applications for the Scotland Broader Group open on 27 October 2026.
