ChangeWho gets the Warm Home Discount scheme in Scotland – and do I need to apply?
There are two different qualifying Groups for the Warm Home Discount rebate in Scotland
Core Group Scotland
You'll automatically get the rebate as part of the Core Group Scotland if, on the qualifying date, these statements apply to you:
- You were getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (PCGC)
- Your name (or your partner’s) is on the electricity bill
- Your electricity supplier takes part in the Warm Home Discount scheme (EDF takes part)
If you were eligible, you should have received a letter from the government between October and December confirming that you would receive the rebate automatically or asking you to call a dedicated helpline to provide a few extra details. Please note that the Warm Home Discount helpline closed on 28 February 2026.
Broader Group Scotland
If you're on a low-income or in receipt of means-tested benefits, and you aren't eligible as part of the Core Group, you could qualify for the Broader Group. You need to apply for the Warm Home Discount through your electricity supplier each year.
You may qualify for the Broader Group Scotland if these statements apply to you:
- You have a low income or get means-tested benefits
- Your name (or your partner’s) is on the electricity bill
- Your electricity supplier takes part in the Warm Home Discount Broader Group scheme (EDF takes part)
