My energy use and rates shown on my in-home display are different to my bill – why is that?

The figures you see on your in-home display and bills both come directly from your smart meter. But there are a few reasons why they look a bit different:

  1. Your in-home display and bills cover different time periods
  2. Your standing charges and VAT are built into the costs you see on your in-home display; these are listed separately on your bill.
  3. The tariff rates you see on your in-home display include VAT; the rates on your bill are shown without VAT
  4. Your total bill is based on your meter readings, as well as any previous payments, instalment plans, credits and debits, and other charges.

But in the end, you only ever pay for what you use.
