Elec Revenue Collection L&G TSG: Step 2 - Install and energise

SMETS2 Pay as you go meters cannot be installed at height or in areas that the customer does not have 24 hour access to.

Ensure a site suitability and costumer vulnerability observation has been completed.

Energise the Electricity meter and comms hub and wait as the LED initiates a sequence of flashing – All lights solid for 10 seconds, pulsing for 10 seconds and then off for 10 seconds. Ensure the CCU remains off until the meter has been commissioned.

There are a few issues you may encounter:

If there’s no power to the Electric Meter you’ll see a blank display.

Installer actions to rectify this:

  • Change the Electric Meter. If this is successful, return the initial Electric Meter to pelli-locker. Populate the return bag (Section k) or returns label as 'POWER ISSUE’. Now proceed to step 3.
  • If this second meter doesn’t work either, return both Electric Meters to pelli-locker, populating both return bags (Section k) or returns labels as 'POWER ISSUE’.
  • Contact TSS for next steps.

Or if there is no power to Comms Hub you will see all of the LED lights remain off.

Installer actions to rectify this:

  • Remove Comms Hub for 3 mins (Comms Hub Reset).
  • Now replace Comms Hub onto meter.
  • If successful, proceed to step 3.
  • If not, change the Comms Hub.
  • If this is successful, return Comms Hub 1 to pelli-locker (populate returns bag section K or label as 'Power Issue’) and proceed to step 3.
  • If the new Comms Hub doesn’t work, try changing the Electric Meter instead and retry the first Comms Hub.
  • If this works, return the initial Electic Meter to pelli-locker and reuse the second Comms Hub. When returning Electric Meter1 the returns label should be populated as 'Not powering up Comms hub’. Proceed to step 3.
  • If this doesn’t work, return the Electric Meter to pelli-locker and reuse both Comms Hubs. Contact TSS for next steps.
