Apply for a new electricity connection

Use this simple form to request a meter
installation at your site.

Before you complete your new connection form

Check these details carefully - we may not be able to complete your request if anything is missing. 

Only complete this form if you want EDF to be your energy supplier.

Your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) is responsible for connecting your supply to the network.

Before you request a new connection from us, they'll need to install your supply cabling. They'll provide you with your connection agreement paperwork once your cabling is in place.

Look over the connection agreement from your DNO for the technical details you’ll need. Ask your electrician or project manager for help. You'll need to add these details to your request form - we can’t complete your new connection without them. 

Don't have your paperwork? Contact your DNO and ask your for a copy 

Here's the information we'll need:

  • Your 13 digit MPAN
  • Your supply Amps, Voltage and KVA
  • EAC - estimated annual consumption which you'll need to estimate yourself
  • CT and VT ratios - current and voltage transformer ratios for high and extra high voltage connections
  • Meter CoP rating - code of practice for half-hourly meters
  • Wiring configuration - for high or extra high voltage meters, if you know it

You can add any additional metering requirements and photos of your supply - especially if you're requesting connection of a found meter. You'll also need to add details of your site contact and anyone managing your project at the DNO.

Low energy user? If your supply is 72kVA or smaller and you don’t already have a large business account, you'll need to follow a different process. Simply email our team at hello@edfenergy.com or call 03330 069 950(2) to get started.

 

We'll need to know the type of meter you'd like installed. The right meter depends on your supply size, voltage, and your business needs. Your options are:

  • Half-Hourly (HH) - Whole Current (WC) or Current Transformer (CT)
  • Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)
  • Smart

For AMR or Half-Hourly meters, you must set up an agreement with your chosen Meter Operator (MOP). We'll ask you to confirm the details on your request form.

Good news! If you’re requesting a Smart meter, you don’t need a MOP contract.

Found a meter on site? Use this form to get your meter connected. You'll need to attach a photo of the meter and add any additional details.
