What is a gas safety shut-off valve, and where is it found?

The gas safety shut-off valve lets you turn off your gas in case of emergency.

It's usually found near your meter – look for a yellow or red handle.

Your gas is on when the handle is in line with the gas pipe.

Your gas is off when the handle is at a right-angle with the gas pipe.
