Solar panels with EDF just got cheaper with limited time offer

Posted November 13, 2025
  • EDF is offering customers a discount of up to £1,000 off[1] solar panels, inverter and battery systems for a limited time.
  • New customers that purchase any combination of solar panels, inverter and a battery could slash their electricity bill by £800 a year, sometimes even reducing them to £0 for 12 months[2].

EDF is helping households to cut the cost of installing solar panel and battery systems by up to £1,000 this autumn.

From now until 23:59 on 23rd November 2025, EDF has knocked £1,000 off the price of a 7kW and above solar and battery system. Usually priced at £10,095, the 7kW system includes 15-16 solar panels, a 7kW inverter and a 5.32kW battery, which would be suitable for a three to four-bedroom home, dependent on the property’s roof size and orientation.

The 7kW system could deliver savings of up to £1,825 on energy bills in the first year[2] and 1.6 tonnes of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to a return flight from London to Los Angeles[3].

Customers looking at smaller systems will also benefit from a limited time price reduction of £750 on a 5-6kW system, which typically starts from £8,995, and £500 on a 2-4kW system which start from £7,395. All combinations of solar and battery installs benefit from 0% VAT[4].

A 2kW solar system, which includes 4-5 solar panels, a 3.6kW inverter and 5.32 kW battery, could save a household £733 on electricity bills in the first year[2], alongside 500kg in carbon emissions – equivalent to a return flight from London to Antalya[5].

The limited time offer follows recent research conducted by EDF which reveals that 57% of Brits[6] believe investing in efficient technology which adds value to their home is important. In fact, 44% are planning to install solar panels in their current home. Yet nearly two thirds (64%) see cost as a barrier to making the investment.

With upfront savings of up to £1,000, new customers that purchase any combination of solar panels, inverter and battery with EDF could also reduce their electricity bill by £800 on average with EDF’s Empower Exclusive tariff[2]

EDF’s Empower Exclusive import and export tariffs offer three hours of discounted, zero carbon electricity every day between the hours of 1am and 4am, alongside no standing charge for a year. Customers can also earn up to 24p per kWh for the energy they export and have peace of mind they can switch or leave anytime with no exit fees.

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director of Customers at EDF, said: “We know many households are looking for practical ways to lower energy costs and their environmental impact. Installing solar panels and battery storage is one of the most effective ways to achieve both.”

EDF’s wholly owned subsidiary, Contact Solar, is a national specialist in solar panels and solar battery installations. The company is a Which? Trusted Trader and rated ‘Excellent’ on Trustpilot, receiving its 1000th review this week. Contact Solar is also certified by the Microgeneration Certifications Scheme (MCS) and TrustMark Certified.

[2] Savings based on October 2025 Standard Variable Price Cap and dependent on household consumption patterns. The average saving of more than £800 per year compared to the price cap assumes Ofgem typical consumption, payment by Direct Debit and national average tariff rates. A typical household (of 2-3 people and with 10-12 panels) on Standard Variable Tariff (2,700 kWh consumption with Standard electricity meter) would pay £907 per year for electricity based on October 2025 energy price cap rates. A typical household (of 2-3 people and with 10-12 panels) with 2,700 kWh of solar generation and a battery with a capacity of 3kWh will pay £0 over a year, based on October 2025 (Import and Export) Empower Exclusive & Export Exclusive tariff rates. Assumes that solar generation is prioritised to power the home with excess stored in the battery. Battery discharge is prioritised for use in peak hours. The battery is topped up using imported energy in off-peak hours and discharged during the peak. Excess energy not used for the home/ when the battery is full is exported.
