Why isn't my new smart meter working yet?
Sorry we couldn't connect your smart meter to the network straight away. This happens from time to time for a number of reasons, including:
- a local signal dip at the time of your installation
- the network was down temporarily for a systems upgrade
- bad weather was interfering with your connection
- your gas meter isn't working because it didn't connect to your electricity meter (a gas meter sends its readings via the electricity meter)
What happens next...
You don't need to do anything at the moment, as our smart meter team will be working away in the background to get you connected.
We'll be in touch within three weeks of your installation to let you know the next steps.

Smart Pay As You Go
Even though your meter isn't connected yet, you can still top up. You just have to manually add the credit each time you top-up.

Your meter will be recording your energy use in the normal way. If it's time for your meter reading, we'll ask you to submit your own meter reading.
