What's a prepayment statement and summary (not smart) – and when do I get it?

You get a prepayment statement and summary for electricity once a year – they come at the same time.

Your gas statement and summary come once a year too.

Your statement

Your statement helps you understand your energy use and costs.

It tells you:

  • How much money you've spent on top-ups over the past year
  • How many times you topped up
  • Your energy charges for the past year
  • How much energy you've used over the past year
  • How much energy you used the previous year (if we have that information)
  • Your tariff details; including information that helps when you're looking for a new energy deal.

Your summary

Your summary is really useful if you want to compare tariff prices when looking for a new energy deal.

It tells you:

  • How much energy you've used over the past 12 months
  • How much energy you used the previous year (if we have that information)
  • How much energy we expect you to use over the next 12 months – and how much that would cost on your current energy plan
