What happens if I give an extra reading Budget Direct Debit?
We can give you the answer for your type of account, once we know what your account number starts with. You can find your account number in MyAccount, and on your EDF bills, emails and letters.
My account number starts with '67'
You only need to give us a meter reading when we ask for it. If you give us an extra reading, we simply add it to your records.
Your extra reading lets us know the exact amount of energy you've used since your last reading. That means we can charge this energy at the right price when it comes to your next bill.
But you won't get a bill until after your next Direct Debit review, when we'll ask you for another meter reading.
Your payment amount won't change either. This only happens after a Direct Debit review if we need to get your payments back on track.
Just had an estimated bill?
If you send us a reading just after you've had an estimated bill, we'll cancel it and send you a new bill based on your meter reading. Your payment amount won't change at this point. This will happen after your next Direct Debit review, if we need to get your payments back on track.
My account number starts with 'A'
