My gas top-ups haven't seemed right since I used emergency credit on my prepayment meter (not smart)

Could it be that you're paying back your emergency credit in small amounts? This happens if you don't put enough credit on your meter to pay back all of your emergency credit debt in one go.

This is how it works:

  • You top up your card with less credit than you owe after using emergency credit (this includes any missed standing charges and instalment plan payments, as well as the emergency credit you've used)
  • As soon as you put your card in the meter, we automatically take 70% of your credit to pay for your debt
  • You keep the other 30% of your credit for your on-going energy use

The same thing happens until you've paid back all your emergency credit debts.
