How can my smart meter help me manage my energy spend

All the information you get from your smart meter can help you make decisions about how and when you use your energy.

You can see your energy use on the meter itself, on your in-home display and in your Energy Hub in MyAccount.

You'll be able to see when you're using lots of energy; so might be able to spot the times when you're wasting energy. You can then take action that might help you reduce your energy costs.

So although your smart meter won't automatically mean you spend less on energy; it can help you cut your energy use.

We all need to do things a bit differently if Britain is to reach net zero carbon emissions, which is why we've created Energy Hub.

If you have a smart meter, you'll find your Energy Hub in MyAccount. It's there to give you lots of useful information that can help you cut your energy use – and costs.

How it works

Energy Hub works hand in hand with your smart meter to show you:

  • your energy use (kWH) and costs (£s), and how these change over time

  • a personalised illustration of how much energy you use on things like lighting, heating and cooking

  • tailored energy-saving advice, based on your energy use.

When you go into your Energy Hub for the first time, you'll get a quick tutorial to help you get started.
