Do I need to give a meter reading?

We can give you the answer for your type of account, once we know what your account number starts with. You can find your account number in MyAccount, and on your EDF bills, emails and letters.

My account number starts with '67'

It is best to only send a meter reading when we wask for one or if your prices are changing.

What happens after I give my meter reading?

Here's what happens if you give us a meter reading:

  • We'll use your reading to make sure you pay correct rate for the energy you use
  • You should see your meter reading updated in MyAccount around a week later
  • If you pay by Direct Debit Whole Amount or by card, cash or cheque, your balance won't get updated in MyAccount; this will happen when it's time for your next bill
  • If you pay by Direct Debit the reading you give won't lead to a Direct Debit payment amount change (this will happen after your next Direct Debit review)

My account number starts with 'A'
