I have a smart meter...
ChangeThe problem is...
Do I need to give a meter reading?
What happens after you give your meter reading depends on the type of account, select what your account number starts with to find our more.
You can find your account number in MyAccount, and on your EDF bills, emails and letters.
My account number starts with '67'
It is best to only send a meter reading when we ask for one or if your prices are changing.
You also don't need to if you have a smart meter that sends readings for you. Find out if your smart meter is sending us readings.
What happens after I give my meter reading?
Here's what happens if you give us a meter reading:
- We'll use your reading to make sure you pay correct rate for the energy you use
- You should see your meter reading updated in MyAccount around a week later
- If you pay by Direct Debit Whole Amount or by card, cash or cheque, your balance won't get updated in MyAccount; this will happen when it's time for your next bill
- If you pay by Direct Debit the reading you give won't lead to a Direct Debit payment amount change (this will happen after your next Direct Debit review)
