Add smart PAYG credit manually with a UTRN – through your ITRON ESME meter

Your credit normally gets added to your smart Pay As You Go meter within an hour of topping up.

Can't wait that long, or it's been more than an hour? You can add your credit manually by entering your Unique Transaction Record Number (UTRN) into your ITRON ESME electricity meter.

How it works

  1. Press the 'Select' button to get to the 'Main Menu' option

  2. Navigate to the 'Command Menu' option using the 'Scroll up/down' button

  3.  Press the 'Select' button to get into 'Command Menu' option

  4. Navigate to the 'Token Entry' option using the 'Scroll up/down' button

  5. Press the 'Select' button to enter the 'Token Entry' option

  6. Press the 'Select' button to enter the UTRN number

  7. Enter the UTRN using the 'Scroll up/down' button to scroll through numbers 0-9, and press the 'Select' button to confirm a number

  8. Once you've entered all the numbers, press the 'Select' button to confirm your UTRN

  9. The screen will display ‘Processing’ for a short period

  10. If successful, the screen will show ‘Token accepted’ along with the value of the top-up. If unsuccessful, the screen will show ‘Invalid token’ and show the reason
