Is an air to air heat pump the same as air conditioning?

In short, yes. You're already using this type of technology. It's the same type of system that cools your office, heats your car and keeps your hotel room at the perfect temperature. Now you can have it at home.

One unit does it
A single outdoor unit works with up to five indoor units working together to cool or heat your home. Larger homes can use it to boost their heating in rooms like conservatories.

Easy to install
Our expert team at EDF Heat Pump handle everything. From the first assessment to the final setup, they make the installation smooth and worry-free.

New funding available
The BUS grant now offers customers who want to install air-to-air heat pumps £2,500 towards the cost. This depends on the eligibility criteria for replacing your boiler to install this as your main heating source.

What does an air conditioning installation look like?

Each installation includes an outdoor unit. Your home will have up to five indoor units. These units are usually mounted on the wall.

Indoor units are installed in living spaces such as bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. They are not installed in kitchens or bathrooms.

Installing air conditioning is easier than installing an air-to-water heat pump. It does not require replacing items like radiators.

More than just cooling

Efficient systems

Modern  A++ systems are much more efficient than regular heating and cooling systems.

Heating

Manage your settings. Simply switch from cooling in the summer to heating in the winter.

A breath of fresh air

Enjoy cleaner air. Air conditioning units can purify the air, removing nasty pollutants in your home.

How do you currently heat your home?

Helping you achieve Net Zero

As Britain’s biggest generator of zero-carbon electricity(1) we provide several heating options to help you lower your home's carbon footprint

Waste less heat, energy and money with insulation

Save up to £810 on energy bills(2) wrapping your home with insulation, as less heat is wasted by escaping out of your home. Your new boiler will last longer too as it's not working as hard to heat your home.

Air source heat pumps - low carbon heating

Consider replacing your gas boiler with a more sustainable and efficient electric air source heat pump. You could get help with the upfront cost through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
