Also known as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, it was introduced in 2013 to replace the Warm Front grant.

How is the ECO Affordable Warmth scheme different to Warm Front?

Under the old Warm Front scheme, eligible households could get a grant of up to £3,500 for home improvements, including Warm Front boiler grants.

Some 2.3 million households in England received grants for home insulation, cavity wall insulation and replacement boilers between 2000 and 2012.

The Affordable Warmth Scheme also offers free home insulation, as well as replacement boilers for a small contribution. Eligible customers can apply to the scheme through their energy company. Not all energy suppliers take part in the scheme, but the big energy companies do.
