What is solar panel battery storage?

Solar panels are a great way to generate electricity during the day, but they don't work at night when you need energy the most. Installing a battery can help you make the most of the energy your panels produce.

Without a battery, you'll have to rely on the National Grid for electricity at night, which can be expensive. However, with a battery, you can store any excess energy generated during the day and use it at night when you need it most.

This will help you reduce your reliance on the Grid and save money on your electricity bills.

Want to use solar energy at night? Install a battery.

Frequently asked questions about solar batteries

Yes, batteries can be added to your existing solar panel system to provide energy storage. To do this, the battery would need to be installed as a battery management system (BMS). This is similar to an inverter which acts as the brains behind panels.

Yes! Most battery systems are modular which means you can add to it and increase the storage. Battery storage is calculated using your current usage – you want to aim to cover a minimum of a full day's usage with your battery storage.

Batteries can be installed in a number of locations, with attached garages and lofts being the most requested areas. Some battery models can even be installed on an external wall for added flexibility.

The installation timeframe depends on the complexity of the property but Contact Solar aim to complete most within 1 day.

Yes, batteries are a great way to save even more on your energy bills. They become the main power source once a solar panel system stops generating - such as overnight. They also help in the winter by taking advantage of cheaper night rate tariffs, allowing you to charge the battery overnight and use it as your main power source the following day whilst generation is at its lowest.
