Sizewell B support for Aldeburgh carnival

A dozen Sizewell B apprentices will join Aldeburgh carnival today to assist organisers of the popular local seaside event, which is returning after a three-year break due to the pandemic.

Apprentices from the Sizewell B maintenance team will once again pitch in as stewards to ensure the safety of visitors and the carnival procession. 

The apprentices will help with traffic management and ensure the float parade passes safely through Aldeburgh.  They will also be on hand with collection buckets to raise money for the carnival.

The power station has once again pledged £500 to boost carnival coffers and has supported the committee with the event organisation. Members of the Sizewell B visitor centre team will also help judge this year’s carnival procession

Niki Rousseau, Community Liaison at Sizewell B, said: “As a local employer we love to support Aldeburgh Carnival, an event which the community look forward to and enjoy.  Our apprentices will be working hard to support the safety of the many visitors expected to attend today’s event, making sure it’s an enjoyable day.”   

The apprentices were able to volunteer in company time as it was part of an EDF initiative called ‘Helping Hands’ which allows staff to take two paid days off a year to help out in the local community or for an environmental cause. 

Sizewell B has 550 employees and 250 contractors who not only work locally but also live in the area and have many fond memories of the carnival.
