Special delivery for Weston General Hospital

By Hinkley Point C media team | Posted May 11, 2020

Hinkley Point C has partnered with passenger transport provider Somerset Passenger Solutions (SPS), to deliver 350 pairs of eye protection to Weston General Hospital in Weston-Super-Mare.

SPS was tasked with getting the protective eyewear in the hands of those most in need in the ongoing battle against Covid-19. The team reached out and contacted hospitals in the Somerset area to find where there was need for this vital PPE.

Simon Cursio, SPS MD, delivered the boxes of goggles to a grateful Steve Granville, the hospital’s Stores Manager on Friday 24 April.

Simon said: “I am delighted that in a small way, SPS has been able to support the outstanding work of our frontline NHS workers by donating these goggles.

“It was a pleasure to meet Steve and the team at Weston General Hospital, and say thank you from everyone at SPS for what they do to keep us all safe”

Jason Lee, Head of Business Services at SPS, arranged for the delivery to be made. He added: “We were happy to be able to help the NHS in this small way, and we’re certain it will assist the local doctors and nurses in their work.”

SPS was formed in 2016 as a joint venture between First Group (South West) and JJP Holdings to serve the passenger transport needs of the power station near Bridgwater. It provides a fleet of more than 100 buses and coaches, as well as drivers. It runs a 24-hour transport service to and from the power station from the site’s Park and Ride facilities, as well as running an internal service at the site itself.
