Former Hinkley Point C Delivery Director Nigel Cann has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for Sizewell C. The move follows the decision of joint Managing Director Julia Pyke to leave the project at the end of the year.  Julia played a key role in the development and financing of Hinkley Point C, while working for the project’s legal advisors Herbert Smith Freehills.  She was personally thanked by the energy secretary Ed Miliband, who said he looked forward to working with Nigel on delivery of Britain’s next large scale nuclear power plant.

Hinkley Point C Chief Executive Officer Stuart Crooks said:

Nigel and Julia demonstrate the close connection between Hinkley Point C and its twin project at Sizewell C. They have taken experience gained here and applied it to help make Sizewell C a reality – it’s a phenomenal achievement.  I want to wish Julia well and thank her for the huge and positive impact she has had in creating two transformational energy projects that will serve Britain for many decades to come. Nigel’s experience in launching Hinkley Point C’s construction will be a key advantage for Sizewell C and he can count on our support as we pass experience and learning through to the project he now leads.
