Science in the Summer Holidays

By EDF | Posted August 03, 2022

Dozens of children filled the Sizewell B visitor centre today for a fun-filled science workshop all about air power!

Children were busy making paper planes and testing the speed and distance of their balloon rockets at the home of Suffolk’s net zero power station.

The Air Power workshop followed ‘Fizz! Pop! Chemistry Fun!’ where children explored chromatography by splitting colours and looking at the chemical reaction of inks on filter paper.

Niki Rousseau, Sizewell B Community Liaison said: “The Sizewell B visitor centre team love holding these free workshops which are such a fun way of exploring science with children.  They are always so well supported by the local community and we hope that other families visiting Suffolk over the summer may call by too.”

Gemma Morling, an Operations Planner at Sizewell B, brought her daughter Marnie, 7, along today.  Gemma said: “We’ve come along today with some friends.  It’s a great way to encourage more girls to think about the industry and lovely for my daughter to learn more about where I work.”

The Sizewell visitor centre is open to the public from 9am to 4.30pm Monday – Friday. To arrange a tour of the power station email Sizewellbtours@edf-energy.com
