More than 24 government buildings get upgrades to support net zero goals
Our engineers have successfully upgraded more than 24 government buildings with sub-metering, helping the public sector achieve its targets for net zero.
The sub-metering project
In a recent phase of a multi-year project, our core services and metering teams used their specialist expertise to design and install electrical sub-metering in government buildings across the country.
This submetering project involved installing a range of sub-metering equipment - 553 electricity meter points, 21 gas logger installations and 17 water logger installations – at strategic points across each site to help understand consumption and emissions at a more granular level.
It's impact - supporting net zero interventions
These upgrades have supported government organisations to:
- Benchmark their electricity usage
- Visualise changes in energy consumption
- Demonstrate financial savings from net-zero interventions
By adding the electrical sub-metering equipment, these organisations can now demonstrate the impact of previous net-zero projects across these buildings, such as solar panel installations, heat pumps, and LED lighting works.
This allows facility management and maintenance teams to monitor and improve energy usage – a rounded approach to achieving net zero and sustainability targets.
The project is the latest stage in years of ongoing work to support decarbonisation across government and wider public sector buildings.
