ECO boiler replacement scheme in Great Britain
What is it?
All the big energy companies provide subsidised replacement boilers for their low-income and vulnerable customers, as part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. The ECO scheme – which replaced the Home Front grant in 2013 – is also known as the Affordable Warmth Scheme.
What can you get?
Homeowners across Great Britain can get a replacement boiler from as little as £240 (or sometimes a little more for complicated installations) through the government boiler scheme.
Who qualifies for the ECO boiler scheme?
You can qualify for a new boiler on the ECO government scheme if you receive at least one benefit, such as income support or disability living allowance. You need to be the homeowner, and your boiler has to be broken. You can get the full list of qualifying benefits on our ECO scheme page.
How do you apply?
You should apply through your energy supplier. EDF customers can apply for the ECO boiler scheme through EDF – all being well, you should get your new boiler within about three months.
