How long will it take to upgrade my home?
After applying for a Warm Homes Local Grant, take a deep breath and relax. The process may take some time.
It can take a few months for use to process your initial application. But once your installer gets in touch, it usually only takes another nine weeks to complete your home improvements.
Your installer also takes care of everything for you. They'll do your surveys, submit the funding application and complete your home upgrades.
What is an air source heat pump and why is it a good alternative heating system for my home?
A heat pump is like having an outside boiler. It captures heat from outside and moves it into your home (using electricity to do so). Read more about how an air source heat pump works in our guide.
There are many benefits to heating your home with an air source heat pump, such as:
- High efficiency – an air source heat pump can be over 300% more efficient than a standard gas boiler, potentially saving you money on your heating bills
- Lower your carbon footprint by around 12% a year – that's roughly a return flight from London to Perth, Australia
- Enjoy reliable heating and hot water all year round – an air source heat pump can still work effectively at -25°C
- Low maintenance with a long service life (15+ years)
What if I don't want all the measures that the installer says I need to have?
To qualify for a Warm Homes Local Grant, your property will have to have an EPC rating of A, B or C after your improvements are made.
The installer will recommend all the home improvements that will help your home achieve this rating.
This means you'll probably need to have all the suggested home imporvements to get the Warm Homes Local Grant.
