Helping our Supply Chain during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic
The wellbeing of our suppliers, staff and customers alike is a key priority for EDF. In these unprecedented times, we recognise the fantastic support from you, our suppliers, working together to keep the lights on; powering homes and businesses. Set out below is a summary of some of the main support resources available to you.
The British Government have announced a series of measures to support businesses that are impacted by COVID-19. Depending on circumstance, these include, for example, a Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the ability to defer VAT and Income Tax payments, a Statutory Sick Pay relief package for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs), a 12-month business rates holiday, business grant funding, supporting the Self-Employed and a Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme. We do encourage you to fully explore which measures apply to your business and take these up in full where appropriate. Up to date information on the measures can be found here.
We recognise that cash-flow is vital to all businesses (including us) and to assist you, we continue to offer our Santander backed Supply Chain Financing scheme. This allows suppliers to get early access to payment - for a small charge – for invoices which we have cleared and approved through our payment process. Payment can be available significantly in advance of contract payment terms. We have also created a handy questions and answers document which provides information and understanding.
We also encourage you to utilise our Tungsten eInvoicing Portal. Using the Portal is quicker and reduces the process steps as compared to handling traditional invoices, it also removes manual handling which helps our teams during time of challenging capacity. Tungsten eInvoicing also removes paper from the payment chain (great for the environment and our hygiene).
We are attune to the challenges facing our supply chain partners, their people and their own suppliers and will do our best to help where we can during these uncertain times.
Impacted suppliers are encouraged to connect with their EDF Supply Chain contact or Contract Management contact to discuss any contract specific difficulties.
If you have any questions about how the pandemic may affect your electricity and gas supply and your energy bills please see our frequently asked questions. We also have a range of health and well-being resources available to support you.
About our supply chain
EDF Energy spends a significant amount of money each year on the acquisition of goods and services in support of our business operations. We partner with a broad range of organisations across the energy lifecycle who work with us to ensure safe, secure and responsible generation and deliver fair value, better service and simplicity to our customers.
We recognise the importance of suppliers as stakeholders to our business and understand that our responsibilities extend beyond our own direct activities through our supply chain associations. We therefore expect our suppliers to share our ambitions and emulate our values to ensure safe, sustainable business partnerships.
Our supplier qualification processes are risk-based and consider both the risk inherent to the category of supply and the environment into which the product or service will be delivered. The information below therefore represents our minimum standards and expectations and may be supplemented in relation to particular business activities.
Supplier information management kit
EDF Energy has launched a Supplier Information Management Portal to enable existing suppliers to maintain their master data and to enable prospective business partners to register their interest in working with us.
Companies registering interest will become visible to internal business users who can initiate a new supplier request for review by the appropriate Supply Chain team.
