Smart Meter Targets for 2026 and Beyond

As the energy market continues to evolve, so do our plans for smart metering. Our targets are designed not only to increase the number of smart meters installed in homes and businesses, but also to ensure that existing smart meters continue to operate reliably and provide benefits to our customers.

Ofgem asks energy suppliers to be transparent about their commitments and the actions they are taking to support customers over the coming years. We are committed to working towards the targets we set, although they may change over time as technology develops, customer needs evolve and the wider energy market changes.

The targets shown for 2028 and beyond are indicative only and may be updated in the future.

The table below sets out EDF's annual targets for:

• New smart meter installations
• Upgrades from first-generation smart meters (SMETS1) to the latest smart meter technology (SMETS2)
• Communication Hub (CH) replacements, which help smart meters send and receive data securely

These targets reflect our ongoing commitment to helping customers benefit from smart metering and better manage their energy use.
